That human behaviour is causing global warming is not speculative: it’s nothing other than common sense. Let me walk you through the logic chain:
- Where did the overwhelming majority of the carbon in the fossil fuels originally came from? (Hint: The atmosphere.)
- What was the climate like before fossil fuels were formed and that carbon was in the atmosphere? (Hint: Hot. No ice-caps, which only formed 15-25M years ago)
- When we burn fossil fuels where does the majority of the carbon go to? (Hint: Back into the atmosphere)
Final question:
- How do you think the climate will be after we’ve burnt all the fossil fuels and the carbon has returned to the atmosphere? (No hints.)
